Theme:  AMS.Fleet Product Implementation
Client:  Houston-based Concrete Company operating a fleet of gravel buckets and tankers
  • Business Problem:  Truck drivers that haul raw materials for concrete (cement, gravel, and sand) maintained paper logs for their loads that had to be processed by hand for payroll and accounts payable purposes.  These logs were often incorrect or illegible and required extensive manpower to manage.  Payroll and invoice processing were manpower intensive operations.
  • What Provante did:
    • Installed the AMS.Fleet client hardware and software in the hauler’s trucks to replace paper logs and provide drivers with access to incentive pay status, messaging, and dispatch information
    • Implemented the AMS.Fleet Manager product that enabled:
      • Back office users to receive and process electronic invoices directly from suppliers and process non-electronic invoices quickly
      • Dispatch to establish a daily plan for drivers loads based on production plant requirements, communicate the plan to the drivers, and to see actual results vs. plan on a real-time basis
      • Driver Management to calculate incentive pay each pay period
      • Management to track the location of trucks in real-time and obtain truck location data following any incident
    • Integrated the feeds from Command Alkon and other proprietary systems into AMS.Fleet, the payroll system, and the client’s Great Plains accounting system
  • Client’s Results:
    • Because tickets come in throughout the day as the loads are delivered and since the accuracy of the tickets has been greatly improved, ticket approval for payroll and payables is done quickly with fewer clerks
    • Drivers can now monitor their incentive pay via the onboard computer and know when they are hitting their targets
    • Plant Managers and Dispatchers now know how many loads of product have been delivered to each plant as the day progresses
