Theme: IT Consulting in Helicopter Logistics
Client:  One Of The World’s Leading Helicopter Services Companies
  • Business Problem:  Our client wanted to build upon the enviable safety record of its operations by providing its pilots additional tools
  • What Provante did:
    • Presented the original concept of an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) to our client’s management.  The EFB was a pen-tab computer that would file flight plans for pilots, manage status messages, calculate weights and balances, and prepare manifests, among other tasks.  The EFB would interface with the existing satellite gear in the helicopter.
    • Worked with the client’s senior pilot to develop the system for the prototype models
    • Created a simulator for testing and training on the new EFBs
    • Developed the system to capture incoming messages, GPS location, and equipment status indicators from the satellite and integrated that information into the Provante Flight Following system used by the client’s communications center.
  • Client’s Results:
    • Tests for the EFB were successful and the client expects to fully outfit its fleet of several hundred aircraft within 18 months
    • The client has better visibility into aircraft operations, enhanced communications, and improved situational awareness in emergencies
